PREP is a comprehensive non-residential service that provides a therapeutic, individually tailored service for young adults to help them develop personal, academic, social, emotional, vocational and independent living skills. We serve clients who have learning disabilities, Asperger’s syndrome, nonverbal learning disabilities, ADHD, mild Autism, executive functioning disorders, as well as, those with other unique learning challenges.
As part of our PREP services our clients are assisted in developing skills in the broad domains of communication, decision making, interpersonal social skills and learning. The skill sets under each of these domains represent the core national competencies and skill sets for college and career readiness.
Clients entering the program with a strong preference to use it as a launching pad for either college or employment will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of possibilities, as well as, the opportunity to tailor their goals, projects, internships, and studies towards a chosen path. The breadth of what is available is determined by the goals and individual action plans developed by the client in conjunction with North Star staff, families and related professionals.
